About Me
DeShelle Burrowes, NCC, LPC, CLC, CMIP
“The therapy and/or coaching process is a collaborative process. You are the expert on your life and I can help support you on your pathway to wellness”
I am not afraid to admit, I’ve been where you are. I have been on the journey to healing through my own trauma. This is why I do the work that I do. I am passionate about supporting women who are struggling with trauma, finding their identities again, and taking care of their needs.
Through the trauma, everyday stressors, and chaos of life itself it is easy to get overwhelmed, confused, and lost. However, I am here to aid you on your new pathway to wellness and thrive in the life that you deserve. We will work together to form a partnership through your journey. This is the foundation of the work that I do. This new step in obtaining support can be scary and we will take our time to get to know one another so that you feel comfortable in sharing what brought you to therapy. We’ll work together in towards achieving your goals and acquiring the tools that you need along your journey.
I am deeply invested in the work that I do with women who are struggling with intimacy-related issues, trauma, and/or motherhood issues. So much so that I specifically I am trained in quality and evidenced-based techniques to restore emotional well-being. I am a Sex-Therapy trained psychotherapist also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as Brainspotting (Phases I & II). I believe these techniques are imperative to the healing process. Once we have established a level of comfort in our therapeutic relationship along with resources we will work towards implementing these modalities.
I am also trained in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders and I am the South Atlanta Coordinator for Postpartum Support International, LLC where I provide resources and I am able to support expecting and postpartum mothers through the changes that occur during these phases. I also work closely with Birthworkers, OB/GYNs, and Pediatricians in order to identify any families struggling with Postpartum issues in order to be able to provide the support needed for a healthy mother, family, and baby.
